Privacy

1. Controller and scope

The controller for the processing described in this privacy policy is:

Manuel Raimund
Lippertskirchen 22
83075 Bad Feilnbach
Germany
Email: support@thisappmatters.com

This policy applies to the Matters app and the public website. Effective date: July 22, 2026.

2. Local storage and private iCloud synchronization

Matters does not create a separate Matters account or password. Ratings, intentions, Matters, history, drafts, and settings are saved locally on your iPhone first.

When iCloud is available, the app synchronizes product data through Apple CloudKit to the private database of the iCloud account signed in on the device. This includes Matters and their content, ratings, intentions, status and history data, a pseudonymous app profile UUID, and an optional profile name or stored email value if provided.

Cross-device synchronization and cloud restoration require the same iCloud account and a prior successful sync. Without available iCloud, the app continues to work locally; local data that has not synchronized cannot be recovered after the app is deleted. Data from different iCloud accounts is not merged automatically. Synchronization depends on the iCloud service and may count against available iCloud storage.

3. Pseudonymous product analytics with Mixpanel

We use Mixpanel to understand app usage and reliability and to improve the product. The app uses Mixpanel’s EU endpoint, and Mixpanel automatic events are disabled.

Data sent may include:

  • a stable pseudonymous app UUID and app, device, version, and language information
  • feature interactions, counts and statuses, and subscription and notification state
  • for some events, a Matter name, including a user-created custom Matter name
  • in a saved profile, an optional name or email value

Full intention text is not intentionally sent as an analytics property. Because of the stable app UUID and possible profile information, analytics data should not be understood as fully anonymous. No APNs device token is sent to Mixpanel. Processing takes place in accordance with applicable privacy law and the choices made available in the app; where required, it is based on consent, and otherwise on our legitimate interest in improving and securely operating the app.

4. Subscriptions and payments

Purchases and payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. RevenueCat receives an app user identifier and purchase, receipt, entitlement, and technical information to evaluate subscription status and provide Premium access. We do not store full payment or credit card details.

Deleting your Matters product data does not cancel an Apple subscription. Subscriptions must be managed or canceled separately in your Apple account settings.

Learn more: RevenueCat privacy policy and RevenueCat data processing addendum.

5. Reminders and CloudKit synchronization

Visible reminders are generated from local app state and scheduled directly by iOS on your iPhone when notifications are allowed and reminders are enabled. Matters does not use an external marketing push provider for these reminders. You can disable them in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.

Silent CloudKit notifications may trigger technical synchronization. They transport sync updates and are not marketing campaigns.

6. Website analytics and consent

On public pages, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only after you accept. It may record page views and clicks on download buttons, with IP anonymization configured. If you decline, GA4 is not loaded. Embedded FAQ, privacy, terms, and imprint routes ending in _de or _en do not load GA4.

Your choice is stored locally in your browser. You can reset it at any time through “Cookie settings” in the footer and then choose again. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.

7. Support contact

This website does not use a support form. If you contact us by email, we process the email address, name if provided, message content, and technically necessary email data you send to answer your request and prevent misuse.

Support messages are kept only as long as needed to handle the request, maintain necessary records, and comply with legal retention duties. Please do not send intentions or other sensitive content unless it is necessary to resolve your request.

8. Recipients and international transfers

We do not sell your personal data. Data is disclosed only to providers needed for the purposes described above: Apple/CloudKit, Mixpanel, Apple and RevenueCat for subscriptions, Google for website analytics after consent, and providers used for website hosting and email.

Mixpanel is configured for EU data residency. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In that case, under their published terms they rely on an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other applicable safeguards.

9. Retention

Local product data remains on the device until you reset it, delete the app, or use “Delete all Matters data.” Synchronized product data remains in the private CloudKit database until you delete it through the app or your iCloud service, subject to Apple’s technical deletion and backup processes.

Analytics, subscription, website, and support data is processed only as long as needed for its purpose, the contracted service, security, and legal recordkeeping or retention duties. Providers may additionally retain data under their own linked retention terms.

10. Reset, deletion, and subscriptions

“Reset this iPhone” removes only the local Matters data on that device. Data already in iCloud may synchronize back to the device afterward.

“Delete all Matters data” removes Matters product data from the private CloudKit database and then from the device. iCloud must be reachable. Deleting the app alone can permanently remove local data that has not synchronized.

Neither action cancels an App Store subscription. The subscription must be canceled separately through Apple.

11. Your rights and security

Subject to applicable privacy law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent for the future. Contact us at support@thisappmatters.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority; the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision is a competent authority for the controller.

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the data we process. No method can guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes

We update this privacy policy when the app, providers, or legal requirements change. The date and version at the beginning identify the current policy.
