Terms of Service

1. Scope

Matters is a weekly self-reflection app. By using the app, you agree to these terms.

Effective date: July 22, 2026.

2. No Matters account and iCloud synchronization

No separate Matters account or Matters password is created. When iCloud is available, the app uses the iCloud account signed in on your iPhone for private cross-device synchronization.

Without available iCloud, you can use the app locally, but cross-device synchronization and cloud restoration are unavailable. Restoration requires that the data was previously synchronized successfully and that the same iCloud account is used. Changing the iCloud account does not automatically merge data from two accounts.

3. Your content and data

You can create personal reflections and entries in the app. We do not claim ownership of your content.

  • You are responsible for the content you create.
  • You should not use the app for illegal or harmful content.
  • Local data that has not synchronized cannot be recovered after deleting the app.

“Reset this iPhone” deletes local product data only. “Delete all Matters data” deletes product data from the private CloudKit database and then from the device, which requires iCloud to be reachable.

4. Permitted use

You must not misuse the app, interfere with its operation, or attempt unauthorized access to data or systems.

Because there is no separate Matters backend account, there is no corresponding account access for us to suspend. We may, however, discontinue, restrict, or technically protect the app or individual features where necessary for security, legal, or operational reasons.

5. Subscriptions

Matters may offer paid, automatically renewing subscriptions.

  • Apple processes purchases and payments through the App Store.
  • RevenueCat provides subscription entitlement services.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings.

Resetting or deleting Matters product data and canceling a subscription are separate actions. Deleting product data does not cancel the subscription.

6. Availability and service changes

We aim to operate the app reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, synchronization, or restoration.

Features may change. We may change, restrict, or discontinue the app or parts of the service for legitimate reasons, subject to mandatory legal rights.

7. No medical or professional advice

Matters is a self-reflection tool.

It does not provide or replace medical, psychological, or other professional advice.

8. Liability

Statutory liability rules apply. To the extent a limitation is permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses that were not foreseeable. Mandatory consumer rights and liability, including for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health, remain unaffected.

9. Ending use

You can stop using the app at any time and delete product data using the actions offered in the app.

If we discontinue the app or service, that does not automatically cancel a subscription managed by Apple; cancellation instructions and mandatory legal duties continue to apply.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for legal, technical, or operational reasons. Material changes will be communicated appropriately. Mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
